My life is much like Lake Michigan today, very rough and choppy. No smooth sailing in sight but soon the waters will be calmer. We moved out of our home of fourteen years on Saturday and we are taking a little respite at our cottage in Glen Arbor until we move into a new house next week, in a new town, where we know no one.
We are ready for the adventure in many ways, but as with all big changes there is some trepidation about the uncertainty that awaits us. The dealings that I have had with several of the people in town, has led me to believe that it will be a smooth transition and maybe a calmer lifestyle.
I recently bought this cute little band aid box that carried the British slogan,” Keep Calm and Carry On”, which was used as a poster in the beginning of World War II to strengthen the morale of the British public in the event of an invasion. It reminds me that staying calm is often the only way to handle stress although we must often ignore the fact that our lives are falling apart to keep completely calm. Ignorance is Bliss in this circumstance, I suppose. I will take deep breaths, enjoy the beauty of Glen Arbor and gather strength for the next life stage.
